A Naturalist’s Guide To The Best Places Featuring Natural Foods, Products, and Experiences
Del Mar Bar & Bistro is one of the best all-around restaurants on Cape Cod. Located in Chatham, Massachusetts, Del Mar features a menu of native seafood, wood-fired pizzas, and bistro cuisine like filet mignon, salads, and fresh pasta. Del Mar is a delightful coastal casual dining experience with a robust menu featuring natural flavors and fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
We give Del Mar five stars based on their consistancy to quality and variety of food and drinks. Though we wish they offered their vegetarian Japanese Pumpkin Ravioli on their regular menu year-round 🙃
Overall, Del Mar Bar & Bistro is really one of the best places to dine on Cape Cod and worth a visit if you are in Chatham.
The Vibe at Del Mar Bar & Bistro
Del Mar’s warm and inviting decor blends coastal charm with contemporary elegance, featuring soft lighting, wooden accents, and a touch of nautical flair that echoes the beauty of Cape Cod. The covered open air patio, adorned with twinkling lights and lush greenery, is a fantastic setting during warmer months.
Del Mar really embodies the Cape Cod casual asthetic. The restaurant has a small dining room on one side and a larger al-fresco-ish dining room. You can also opt for seats at the bar but they are always filled but you can add yourself to the bar waitlist. Definitely plan ahead and get a reservation in advance. They book quickly which is truly a testament with how good their food and service is.
This is a great place for date night, social outings, or after a day spent at the beach.
The Menu at Del Mar Bar & Bistro
- Drinks: Del Mar’s has one of the best Grey Goose Lemon Drop martinis on Cape. We also reccomend the Myer-Lavender Lemon Drop martini and the Southway, made with cucumber vodka, ginger, lime juice and soda.
- Starters: The Wood Roasted Peach & Burrata Salad features baby arugula, imported prosciutto, candied pecans, fresh figs, shaved melon, rosemary honey & balsamic glaze (order it without prosciutto to make it veg friendly)
- Pizza: Get one of the wood-fired, thin crust pizzas! The Fig & Prosciutto Pizza can be served without the prosciutto and is one of the best non-traditional pizzas you’ll ever have. This is my go-to order.
- Main Courses: The maple glazed roasted free range duckling features sweet potato puree, broccolini, and bourbon soaked black cherries. This was a consistant favorite among those who I’ve talked to. The Japanese Pumpkin Ravioli is another popular favorite but only offered on occasion as a special on their Blackboard Menu. The dish features pumpkin ravioli in a parmesan cream sauce with spinach, sage, toasted pine nuts, and hints of cinnamon. Tip: You can order the ravioli as an appetizer or as a main course.
- Desserts: The Bananas Foster has brown sugar & butter, flamed with Meyers rum & locally made vanilla bean ice cream. Or try the Cheesecake Du Jour.
