Fire ant venom causes a burning sensation. Red bumps will form at the sting and become white fluid-filled pustules within days.

If attacked by fire ants, knock them off quickly and treat with antihistamines if necessary. Seek immediate medical attention if a sting causes severe chest pain, nausea, severe sweating, loss of breath, serious swelling, or slurred speech.
