Whale sharks are the biggest fish in the ocean and can weigh up to 20 tons and grow as long as 40 feet which is bigger than a school bus.
Whale sharks are found in tropical and warm seas worldwide, except the Mediterranean, and feed on small organisms like plankton and tiny fish. They’re not violent and are known as “gentle giants.”
Despite their size, whale sharks face threats from bycatch and hunting for their meat and fins, leading them to be listed as an endangered species.
