Tripod Fish Can Stand On Their Fins As They Wait For Food To Pass By

Updated on April 11, 2024July 31, 2023

Tripod fish live at depths of 2,881 to 15,486 feet or 878 to 4,720 meters in low-to no-light conditions. They are unable to hunt without light so they rely on standing around, feeling for food drifting by, and then using their fins to help push food into their mouth. Video by@schmidtocean
